Beat the Download Blues

Recently, a number of new users have written in to mention that they have had difficulty logging in to the Associate-O-Matic download area to obtain the software. And the extra license file required for the Trial version has also been causing some confusion. So here’s a short pictorial designed to help with navigating this part of the site.

Getting the latest version of AOM begins with clicking the Download button at the top of any page of the associate-o-matic.com site. This will take you to the Download page, where you are asked to select the version you want:

Clicking on one of the blue buttons or the ‘Login to Download the Full Version’ link will take you to the Account Registration page:

dld2If this is your first time downloading the AOM software, you are required to register. If you have already registered, click the Login link available in the top right. This will replace the registration screen with the login screen:

dld3Your account information should be filled in; otherwise just enter your username and password. Be advised that the username and password in this area has nothing to do with the login details for your AOM store. If you have come here by mistake, or cannot recall your username and/or password, note that there are links displayed below the login button to assist you. Otherwise, you will proceed to the Members Welcome area.

There is a variety of information available to you here, including payment details, the status of your subscription, and how to renew your subscription, among other things. Most of this will be listed in the green Members Area box on the left side of the page, shown in close-up below:

dld5

Select the Full, Trial or Lite version to download (note that the Full version will not be available for members who have not purchased a Full license). In this example we will select the 30-day Trial version.

Clicking on the Download TRIAL Version link takes you to the actual download page:

dld6

Clicking the big blue Download button will begin the download of the trial version .zip file. Make sure to note where on your hard drive the file is being saved to. With the Full or Lite versions, once the download is complete, you can leave or log off from the AOM site.

The Trial version however, requires an additional step. Notice below the blue Download button there is a Download Trial License File link:

dld7

As the instructions state, save this file to your computer, naming it aomtrial.license (or aomtrial.txt if for some reason your computer balks at the file name. You can rename it later). When you upload the AOM files to your web space, this file must be located in the same directory as the shop.php and admin.php files. It must be named aomtrial.license or the software will not recognize it.

Edit: The download area for the aomtrial.license area has been revamped. The file now has its own big blue download button that’s going to be difficult  to miss.

At this point you would proceed as normal with installing the files, and begin setting up or upgrading your Associate-O-Matic site. Information on installation is available on the AOM site, as shown in the links above, or in the Users Guides on this blog.
